Evening Work (xi)
Since 2021 Vasco has been casting small pieces at home, in a domestic kiln in his apartment, using offcuts too small to be worth firing in the yard.
The evening work is unique in each case, made in a single pour, and never editioned. It is the only part of the practice that does not require a crane, a pallet truck or a second person, and Vasco has said it is the only part he can actually look at.
At this scale the sand casting reads as texture rather than as skin. The object resembles a fragment of machinery without corresponding to any particular machine.
