Beech, Het Gooi, 2024 (III)

Beech gives a tighter, drier glaze than elm and holds its position on the wall of the vessel far longer. Four firings here, against six for the elm pieces of the same year, and the pooling at the foot is correspondingly shallow.

The colour is a warm olive that goes almost black where the glaze is thickest. Prieto has been recording her results by species since 1994 and keeps the notebooks in the workshop, which she regards as the actual archive of the work.
