Lagos, March to July 1994
Newspapers, church bulletins, school exercise books, freight manifests and mail order catalogues produced in Lagos between March and July 1994, sourced over four years, stacked, saturated in clear resin and held under a hydraulic press for six days.
The two large faces are blank. All four edges are entirely made of text. You can read the outermost millimetre of any page in the block and nothing beyond it. The material is intact, verifiably present and completely inaccessible.
Nwosu is firm that this is not about loss. Nothing has been destroyed. The paper has been made permanent in exchange for being made useless, which he offers as a fair description of most archives.
