Wet Room (Second Floor)
Painted in a single sitting on 4 February 2026, beginning at seven in the morning and finished a little after ten at night.
Enkel does not go back into a dry painting. Everything here was resolved wet into wet, which means each decision damaged the one before it, and the version that survives is whatever was standing at hour fifteen. The tiled wall at the left is the earliest passage in the picture and the only one that stayed where it started.
The room is a second floor bathroom in a flat on the Bilderdijkkade that Enkel left in 2021. She painted it from memory. The specific brown of the tile is the detail she says she has never been able to get wrong.
