The smallest work in the exhibition and the one Enkel finished fastest, in a little under nine hours.

She has said that the short sittings are the ones that survive. At nine hours there is not enough time to damage the early decisions, and the picture keeps a stability that the longer panels lose somewhere around hour twelve. Whether this makes them better paintings is a question she leaves open.

The tile brown of the title is a specific colour, mixed from raw umber and Naples yellow, that Enkel has been using since 2019.
