The grey mass along the upper right is the rear elevation of a logistics building completed in 2022 on land that was arable until 2020.

Achterberg is deliberately unromantic about this. The painting is not an argument about land use and he refuses to make one. It is a record of an edge condition, the specific place where a field meets infrastructure and neither of them wins, painted in the two hours before the light goes.
