GROUNDWORK: 2026 Summer Exhibition
Press release for the gallery's fourth summer exhibition in the wharf hall at Borry Noord, with six artists whose work begins as a procedure rather than an image.
For immediate release. Amsterdam, 20 May 2026.
Gallery Borry presents GROUNDWORK: 2026 Summer Exhibition at Borry Noord from 30 May to 27 September 2026, with work by Nour Bahri, Kester Ellul, Hedda Lindqvist, Emeka Nwosu, Yolanda Prieto and Adrien Vasco.
There is no theme. What the six artists share is that none of them begins with an image. Bahri begins with a fold, Lindqvist with a year of shipping data, Vasco with a piece of obsolete port machinery, Nwosu with the printed matter of a city in a given season, Prieto with a felled tree, Ellul with somebody else’s insurance footage. In each case the result is arrived at rather than designed.
The hall is a former ship fitting shop of 41 metres with a crane rail still in place at nine metres, and it has been left as found. Bahri’s The Fold Remembers runs eleven metres from the rail. Vasco’s three aluminium works sit directly on the floor slab at the weights they came out of the yard.
Borry Noord, Neveritaweg 61, 1033 WB Amsterdam. Open Thursday to Sunday, 12:00 to 18:00. The hall is unheated and partly uncovered.
